In the not-too-distant future, the world is facing an unprecedented environmental and social crisis.

Kelvin Hardy is an urban planner, and he struggles every day to keep the city from descending into chaos. He understands the problems the world is facing. That's why he has been chosen.

Kelvin and seven other 'candidates' are invited to a house in the country for a weekend.

Their task, they are told, is to prove themselves worthy of attending a prestigious world summit, sponsored by an eccentric billionaire, Malcolm Hunt, that will address the world's most pressing issues.

But on their first morning they discover they are trapped inside the house, with no means of communicating with the outside world.

Their real task, they discover, is to survive...
